Sangeeta Wylie
- Dentist, actor, and writer. Some dental accomplishments include practice owner,
clinical teacher (UBC, U of Toronto), mentor (teachers, students), manual dexterity grader (National
Dental Examining Board); member of Ethics Committee (College of Dental Surgeons of British
Columbia), and Admissions Interview Development Committee (Dalhousie Dentistry). Sangeeta acted
as clinical lead for the Covid-19 vaccine rollout (Northern Health of BC), hospital on-call support (St.
John’s, NL), and as a community educator. She volunteers with non-profit and is currently engaged
with “Real Time Virtual Support” (Northern Health): an inaugural interprofessional healthcare
resource for rural, remote and indigenous communities.
- A professional actor with several credits in film, television and theatre, Sangeeta worked with Oscar
nominated Deepa Mehta (Beeba Boys), who called her ‘exceptionally talented, genuine and fearless”.
Her first play, we the same, had a World Professional Premiere with Ruby Slippers Theatre at The
Cultch, Vancouver 2021, and received 6 Jessie Award nominations. It is on the curriculum at University
of Victoria, Theatre Department.
- As a playwright Sangeeta has worked with Vancouver Asian Canadian
Theatre, Playwrights Theatre Centre, Green Thumb Theatre and Teesri Duniya (Montreal).
- She has
presented at local, national and international conferences in the arts, and received prestigious arts grants
(Canada Council for the Arts, BC Arts Council).
- Her poetry is published in Font Magazine. Sangeeta is
an Executive Board Director and Chair of Patron Development committee for the Cultch Theatre, and
member of Women’s and BIPOC committees (Union of BC Performers).
- She plays classical piano,
practices yoga, and holds degrees in Chemistry with a Music Minor, and Dentistry.
